What We Build for Industrial Equipment and Automation
Custom industrial enclosures and cabinets divide into three families. Enclosures are protective shells for electrical and electronic equipment in wall-mount, pendant and freestanding formats. Cabinets are larger floor-standing structures for control systems, drives and machine wiring. Welded assemblies and frames are load-bearing structures such as machine bases, frames, guards, doors and supports that must hold alignment in service.
Every product is customized around the customer’s layout: cutouts and cable entries, doors with windows or locks, mounting plates and gland plates, lifting eyes, custom colors and labeling. Design changes are reviewed for manufacturability before production, which keeps cost and lead time under control.
Custom Industrial Enclosures for Control and Electrical Systems
Wall-mount enclosures are built when control and electrical components need protection near the machine. XHX Metal fabricates single- and double-door designs in steel or stainless, with hinged or removable doors, gasket options and mounting plates drilled to the customer’s component layout. The NEMA enclosure types help buyers specify the environment a unit must survive, and the UL standards define control-panel requirements for North American projects.
Door fit, hinge alignment and gasket seating are checked on every custom industrial enclosure at the first article, because a misaligned door is visible on site and difficult to correct after finishing.

Custom Cabinets for Machines and Automation Lines
Floor-standing cabinets and consoles house complete control systems and line wiring. Typical construction combines a welded or formed frame, side and rear panels, front doors and a top with cable entry. Mounting plates, busbar supports, gland plates and internal hardware are coordinated during design so assembly does not fight the enclosure.
Cabinets are painted after welding so seams are cleaned before coating. Textured powder coat in RAL colors is standard, and stainless construction is reviewed where washdown, outdoor or corrosive environments require it.

Custom Welded Assemblies and Machine Frames
Welded assemblies carry the load that enclosures cannot. Machine bases, frames, pedestals, guards and support structures are fabricated from laser-cut plate and formed sections, then welded in fixtures that control distortion. Weld process selection follows the material and appearance requirement, with process references from TWI Global.
Structural welds are ground and inspected where appearance or fit matters, and critical dimensions are checked after welding and again after finishing. Cutting, forming, welding and coating follow one approved drawing set, which reduces rework.

Materials, Finishes and Protection Options
Custom industrial enclosures are offered in cold-rolled steel with textured powder coating as the default finish; the Powder Coating Institute publishes film thickness and cure guidance. Stainless grades 304 and 430 serve food, washdown, marine and outdoor applications, and SSINA offers practical guidance on selection and care. Galvanized steel and aluminum are reviewed where corrosion protection or weight matters, with property data from MatWeb and AZoM.
Beyond color, options include gaskets and sealing, viewing windows, lockable handles, earth studs, silk-screened labels and hardware such as hinges, lifting eyes and captive fasteners. Coating, gasket type, hardware, labeling and inspection points should be listed on the drawing because they affect cost.

Prototyping, Lead Times and Program Scale
Custom industrial enclosures and cabinets are quoted after drawing review, with samples shipping in 5 to 10 working days and first batches in 15 to 30 days for wall-mount enclosures or 20 to 35 days for floor cabinets and large welded assemblies. Wall-mount enclosures typically run 50 to 300 pieces per batch with an MOQ of 20 to 50, while floor cabinets and large welded assemblies run 10 to 40 pieces with an MOQ of 5 to 10.
Typical FOB pricing runs $15 to $80 per wall-mount enclosure and $100 to $400 per floor cabinet or welded assembly, with single-customer annual orders of $20,000 to $70,000. Repeat programs normally achieve a 4 to 6 percent cost reduction after forecasts and finish colors are consolidated. ISO 9001:2015 quality management applies, and CE documents, SGS inspection or a customer factory audit are available where required.

Can you build enclosures and cabinets from our drawings?
Yes. Custom industrial enclosures are reviewed from STEP or STP models and dimensioned 2D drawings that state material, finish, quantity and required standards. Engineering review comes before quotation.
What batch sizes do you accept?
Small-to-medium batches are the norm: an MOQ of 20 to 50 pieces for wall-mount enclosures and 5 to 10 pieces for floor cabinets and large welded assemblies.
Which materials and finishes can be used?
